No recuerdo la primera vez que vi a Carrie Fisher caracterizada como la princesa Leia. Lo m\u00e1s probable es que haya sido una figura, o que resida en alguna memoria vaga de una escena de The Return of the Jedi<\/i>, pero eso aplica a cualquier cosa que tenga que ver con Star Wars<\/i>; crec\u00ed con su est\u00e9tica, y sabiendo de ellas, pero no vi las pel\u00edculas propiamente durante mucho tiempo. No puedo decir que soy de esos fans a los que les ayud\u00f3 a encontrar su Lightsaber<\/i>, como sin duda se le hicieron saber en muchas ocasiones \u2013 y ella sab\u00eda exactamente<\/i> a lo que se refer\u00edan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lo que s\u00ed recuerdo es la primera vez que la vi en realidad; ten\u00eda 15 a\u00f1os cuando busqu\u00e9 la trilog\u00eda original y apenas encontr\u00e9 una copia en VHS, olvidada y mal estado, en un videoclub. Es casi inconcebible en el 2016, pero hubo un momento, la gran hibernaci\u00f3n de Star Wars<\/i> del 85 al 96 m\u00e1s o menos, en el que Star Wars <\/i>no estaba disponible en un click. Desde un cierto punto de vista, la conoc\u00ed de la misma manera que las audiencias de 1977: a bordo del Tantive IV. A diferencia de ellos, ten\u00eda a\u00f1os de haber absorbido la est\u00e9tica y el ethos de Star Wars<\/i>; tal vez nunca hab\u00eda visto una pel\u00edcula de Star Wars, pero sab\u00eda que Darth Vader era uno de los villanos m\u00e1s temibles, feroces e imponentes de la historia del cine.<\/div>\n

Mi primera impresi\u00f3n fue que esa personita de metro y medio y de curioso peinado no le tem\u00eda a Darth Vader.<\/i><\/div>\n

Tampoco le tem\u00eda al Governador Tarkin, y cuando un par de h\u00e9roes accidentales la rescatan, ella pronto toma el mando de su propio rescate; Leia tal vez era una damisela, y estaba en peligro, pero es ah\u00ed donde terminaba el clich\u00e9. Star Wars <\/i>tal vez era la historia de Luke Skywalker, pero la valent\u00eda y el intelecto de Leia Organa no eran segundos de nadie. 30 a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, una de las cosas que m\u00e1s me emocion\u00f3 sobre The Force Awakens <\/i>fue c\u00f3mo se nombr\u00f3 a su personaje que regresaba: General Leia Organa<\/i>. Nunca me gust\u00f3 mucho la idea presentada anteriormente en el ya difunto Universo Expandido \u2013 una diplom\u00e1tica, como Mon Mothma; Leia no era una Canciller, ella peleaba. El personaje hab\u00eda perdido a sus padres biol\u00f3gicos, sus padres adoptivos, su planeta entero y la vida que conoc\u00eda, la abandon\u00f3 su esposo, su hermano y su hijo, y a\u00fan asi continuaba peleando. Leia Organa es uno de los mejores personajes de Star Wars<\/i>.<\/div>\n

Pero esa es Leia Organa, un personaje ficticio; inmortal e imperecedero. Carrie Fisher, la persona, s\u00f3lo ten\u00eda un cierto tiempo en este mundo, que se le acab\u00f3 demasiado pronto. Ten\u00eda apenas 60 a\u00f1os, y se supon\u00eda que nos deb\u00eda durar otros 20 o 30. Descubrir al personaje por el que ser\u00e1 recordada con afecto por millones de personas fue maravilloso, pero no tanto como descubrir esos vistazos de la persona a trav\u00e9s de m\u00faltiples escritos y entrevistas.<\/div>\n

Carrie era tanto realeza de Hollywood como de la Galaxia. Hija de Debbie Reynolds y del cantante Eddie Fisher, se hizo famosa muy joven y le caus\u00f3 muchos problemas en su vida con el abuso de sustancias, exacerbados por cuestiones de salud mental, pero como su personaje, se enfrent\u00f3 a ellos con valent\u00eda, candidez y sentido del humor. Su trabajo como actriz fue el m\u00e1s conocido, pero fue tambi\u00e9n \u2018script-doctor\u2019 (arreglando y puliendo guiones de cintas como Scream 3, Hook<\/i> o colaborando con George Lucas en las precuelas y la serie de TV de Indiana Jones) y escritora.<\/div>\n

At times, being bipolar can be an all-consuming challenge, requiring a lot of stamina and even more courage, so if you’re living with this illness and functioning at all, it’s something to be proud of, not ashamed of.
