Junto con Charles Peirce y Ferdinand de Saussure fue una de las figuras m\u00e1s importantes en el campo de la Semi\u00f3tica &#8211; el estudio de los signos &#8211; y sus escritos sobre textos abiertos y postestructuralismo se ense\u00f1an junto a los de Roland Barthes en las universidades.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">[br]<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Su primera novela fue <i>Il Nome della Rosa<\/i> (<i>El Nombre de la Rosa<\/i>), una seminal historia de detectives medievales que introdujo la Semi\u00f3tica a un publico m\u00e1s amplio, y fue adaptada por Hollywood en una pel\u00edcula con Sean Connery. Le sigui\u00f3\u00a0<i>Il pendolo di Foucault (El\u00a0P\u00e9ndulo de\u00a0Foucault), <\/i>en la\u00a0que\u00a0deconstruye la fascinaci\u00f3n con las teor\u00edas de conspiraci\u00f3n. Todav\u00eda recientemente se encontraba activo, habiendo publicado su ultima novela <i>Numero Zero <\/i>en el 2015.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">[br]<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ademas del cine y la literatura, el trabajo de Eco tambi\u00e9n era lo suficientemente expansivo como para \u00a0cubrir los c\u00f3mics.
